Racquet Stringing
The racquets we service receive the same high service that the professional require. But stringing the racquet is only part of the service we give. When we receive your racquet from you we will discuss the different strings on offer and from the information you give us we will recommend a couple of options. If there are any special request such as fitting a new grip, enlarging a grip or weighting/balancing the racquet this can be discussed or advised at the same time.
Once we have your racquet we will remove the old string in a correct manner so as to minimalise any stress to the frame. If a grip is required at this time it too will be removed and the handle pallet cleaned in preparation for the new grip. Should there be any split grommets, the whole of the grommet strip will be removed and replaced. Playing tennis can cause the racquet to get dirty. We will also clean of any debris off the racquet before the grommet strip is replaced. With the new grommet strip on place and the racquet cleaned it is now ready for stringing.
We string all racquets on a Babolat Star 5 electronic stringing machine. As it is electronically controlled the machine gives a more consistent result than many manual machines. We use approved stringing patterns that will reduce the stress placed upon the frame of the racquet and therefore increasing the life and playability of it. Where possible when stringing with 1 piece of string, we use a stringing pattern called Around-The-World or ATW. This allows us to string the cross strings of the racquet from the top to the throat. If you'd like more information on this stringing method, please use the contact us pages and will be happy to describe to you our method in full.
Once the racquet has been strung the new grip, if required is fitted. Then come the finishing touches. A sticker is put on the frame advising the player of the string used, when it was strung and the tension it was strung at. Our telephone numbers and web address also appear on this sticker. A note of the customers requirements are also noted on our computer database. We then stencil the strings with the racquet company's logo along with our individual marking. Finally we place the racquet into a poly bag just like the professionals have. This helps to prevent any climate changes affecting the strings before the customer use their racquet, and protects the racquet while being stored prior to collection and in transportation.
As you see from the steps we take, that every customers racquet is treated with care along the stringing process.
If you have any questions about the stringing process, please feel free to contact us as you wish and we will help you as best we can. Although we are highly experienced in this field, we accept that we don't know everything. If there is a question we can't answer, we will contact other stringers, companies etc and endeavour to get the answer for you.
